North Salem Central School District hosts a Community Book Talk and Panel Discussion.

How can we help our children rediscover their love of learning? What do we do when adolescents become disengaged from school, feeling simultaneously bored and overwhelmed? How can we guide our children from disengagement to drive, helping them explore and grow with curiosity rather than fear?

Join us for an evening of thoughtful discussion on the book, The Disengaged Teen: Helping Kids Learn Better, Feel Better, and Live Better, by Jenny Anderson and Rebecca Winthrop. Explore evidence-based strategies to support both checked-out and stressed-out teens to help them develop healthier relationships with learning. Discover the four modes of learning which teens use to navigate school: Resister, Passenger, Achiever, and Explorer, and learn practical steps to rekindle interest, confidence, and purpose in your child. Share your experiences and learn from other families who are navigating similar challenges. Members of our school community will facilitate group discussions on teen engagement, resilience, and fostering internal motivation.

Tuesday, April 22 at 7:00 PM at the Middle/High School Library

Whether you've read the book or are just curious about the topic, all are welcome – families, students, teachers, and community members. Thanks to the generous donations from the MSHS and PQ PTOs, copies of The Disengaged Teen: Helping Kids Learn Better, Feel Better, and Live Better are now available at MSHS. National Honor Society members will be providing childcare during the program.

Please fill out this RSVP and share it with anyone who might be interested in attending.
